While I love being an Emerald Club member, I am always frustrated at the lack of customer service at the exit booths. I might get my car right away but I'm tired of sitting in a long line of cars waiting to check out. Why can't I just take the car and go? Or why can't there be three or four lanes open to speed up check out? That is the entire reason I am an Emerald Club member, as I don't have time to wait in a long line to exit. This is most prevalent at the St Louis airport location as I encounter this every time I travel here on business. Please expedite this! I am considering changing companies because of this.
I have always gotten outstanding service from the Albuquerque branch of National Car Rental. I have been renting there for work trips several times every month for over a year and a half and have had ANY issues promptly solved by the folks working the lot. I have yet to have any negative experience with them. On occasions when there has been a derth of vehicles to choose from, mentioning it to the lot supervisor has resulted in finding a car I was comfortable driving for the week or so I was to be there. ONCE I had a vehicle issue (tire running slow leak) and had the car promptly replaced with something better.
We returned the car mid-afternoon on Sat., 10/14. Two National associates greeted us and were very cordial, inquiring about our trip and where we were from. It was one of the most relaxed check-ins we have had. Once inside the airport, my husband realized that he had forgotten his glasses in the car. He tried calling, but wasn’t able to contact anyone. He got back on the bus and went back to the rental lot. Although the car had already been taken to the wash bay, someone was able to find his glasses and return them to us. What a relief!
I like that there is usually a fine selection of American cars available for choosing. This last time I took a Chrysler 300C, a particularly favorite vehicle of mine. As I was there for 2 weeks, I was particularly pleased to have such a fine vehicle available to use.
To be honest, I rented from Alamo. My car was reserved through Costco, so when I arrived, I joined the Alamo line. (There was only one customer ahead of me.) One of your agents said she could help me since Alamo and National are the same company, and she was faster than the Alamo agent! I was really impressed by her customer service. I wish I remembered her name! She was about mid-20's and I think she had light brown hair. I rented on 8/4/17 around 4pm, if that helps narrow it down!
We very much enjoyed our first experience as Emerald Club members. We selected a very nice vehicle within moments after reaching the Emerald Club lot. No time spent at a counter filling out papers!
This is a great organization, well run.
This was our first trip to New Mexico, and we arrived late evening at the Albuquerque airport. There was a National associate in the parking lot who promptly directed us to an Emerald Isle vehicle, a very nice 2018 Toyota Camry. We were in the New Mexico/Texas area for two weeks, and the car was awesome with great gas mileage.
One suggestion: make sure the car is completely emptied of items left by previous renters. A water bottle and documents in glove compartment were in the car that we rented.
Overall, our New Mexico experience with National was awesome!
