Does ANYONE throw house shows anymore? At all? Has anybody graduated from that lately? No? Well, there are always touring bands to influence their way into the current year.
Good venue for music and drinks. Can get pretty loud as the space is small but they bring in good acts on the regular.
Four stars because the last two shows we went to only had three bands with doors opening at 7pm yet somehow headliners weren't on until after 11pm and both were on week nights. Sorry, but I don't want to wait for a band to start until 11:45pm on a Tuesday night.
There are a lot of good artists/musicians that perform at the Launchpad. The security is very experienced, the management is professional but the bartenders are very prompt with their services. Also the climate is WAY too hot in the warm seasons. Which is the reason why I rate 4/5 stars.
Update: The show on 11.20.17 only had three bands with doors at 7 and the headliner came on at 9:30. I'm happy to update my rating to 5 stars if they can repeat.
"Day of" concert cover is always five bucks extra than advertised (if this is not already common knowledge to you) which is normal. Street parking and lot parking. Modest patio and stage overlook on the second floor. Holds 150 on a good day. 300 on their best day ever.
The sounds guys and acoustics here/house shound is amazing here, great live music! Beer is cold and selection is great!
This is a great venue I have been going to since I was a teen. They have a bar and usually serve pretty good drinks, but no food. They also have a vending machine with soda and water. If you are underage, enter at the back of the building. You can leave the building to smoke, but you have to stay in the designated area or they won't let you back in. Bathrooms here suck. Sometimes the stall doors don't shut or there is no toilet paper etc. but I feel like that is an unfortunate norm smaller music venues. There is an upstairs balcony with seats, a few arcade games, and a pool table. I have no idea who you talk to to get pool supplies.
Check the music/event before you go.
Balancing your music patron ideal vs. your actual service rendered is a tip conundrum that will endure, just don't be the guy that doesn't tip...no matter how long it took or how many times they passed you.
Marginally interested, appropriately decorated dive bar wait staff await. Though adequate, you're not at this kind of place for top shelf service: If the music doesn't carry the night, nothing else will...not even cheap PBR. Use your cover charge wisely and your applause discriminately...lest you give a crappy local band reason (and/or hope) to fulfill their hobby beyond a girlfriend's testimonial and the rattling of a poorly insulated garage.
