Great job Pet land.
I am so tired of coming into this store and finding blatant cases of improper care. There are a few staff members there who really care and are doing their best, but all efforts seem to be stunted by the antics of the manager (owner?), Terry. I have personally seen her manhandle animals to put on a show for unwitting customers. She is also responsible for giving invertebrate animals a gel meant to feed crickets, instead of a water dish. I once had to point out a ferret that was so near death it was completely unconscious (not the regular, noodle-like consistency of a relaxed ferret). There are hordes of birds stuffed into too-small cages. The worst and most recent offense was when my husband and I came in to inquire about the sugar gliders. We were met with an employee who was very kind and helpful, and even introduced us to a little female we considered taking home. However, the Terry then came over and loudly proclaimed that the employee didn't know what gender the little glider was and told us about all of them escaping the night before. Three employees, including the manager, then argued over the genders of the sugar gliders. There were six stuffed in one small cage, and one by his lonesome in the other. A fight broke out between two of the gliders due to the stress of the completely avoidable situation and no one was able to correct it. I wish this was an isolated incident, but it is really just the last straw on an over-burdened camel.
Some may think pet land's open access to handle the animals stresses them out, but in fact, many animals enjoy attention as much as they enjoy alone time. Many of the birds seem reluctant to be put back in their cage, I think they like the company.
Best pet store in town! Staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and you can play with the animals, which means they are more used to people than at other pet stores.
This pet store is awesome. The only pet store in town where you are able to handle most of the animals(with care of course), even the large birds like the African grey, as opposed to other pet stores where the birds are in a cage, that's inside a larger cage, that only employees can access to. (Almost makes you feel guilty for asking)
Neat and clean. It doesn't smell like an average pet store! A wonderful selection of rodents, birds, fish, etc. They also sell a large variety of food, collars, leashes, cages, pet beds, and all sorts of other goodies for your furry best friends!
They have lots of specialty stuff. Went in for a new litter box. Came out with a fountain drinking bowl, special litter, etc. Informative staff.
