It was pretty good BBQ. A little confusing when ordering they have sides in a cooler before you order your meat on the side. Staff wasn't very helpful and kind of impatient. Probably the same quality as Dickey's though, and a little more expensive. There is a neat fire pit area where they smoke their meat, and it heats the place up quite a bit. The sauce was on point though. Good BBQ joint, but better ones are around.
I love the REI in Albuquerque, but Santa Fe's store employees aren't very helpful and they have a habit of treating their customers as a major inconvenience. My mom was in the process of checking out at the register when she called me for help with what she was buying. I could hear the cashier getting impatient with my mom's questions and the multiple phone numbers she had to try to find her membership. She stated "I have to get through this line". My mom wasn't able to use my dad's phone number so she had to set up her own membership, also an inconvenience for the cashier. I understand that the employees were under stress because the store was extremely busy, but that is no way to treat a customer EVER. I hope management will take a few steps to better the customer service their employees provide. This occurred 11/12 a tad before 2pm.
Very helpful and friendly. Good to have REI in Alberquerque!
First experience with the garage sale. Like black Friday except people are nicer. Was able to find two pairs of hiking shoes and some shorts and I didn't have to scramble around. Still gotta get there early before everything goes, there was a line before they opened.
This review is just for the bike shop. My 1 year old Mavic wheel was making a screeching sound when I freewheeled. So I needed to do maintenance on the freehub. I watched a few youtube videos, they seemed to recommend Shimano hydrolic brake mineral oil. One guy said that a Mavic rep recommended it to him. Only bike shop open now (8 pm) is REI, they didn't have that, the bike mechanic said he wouldn't recommend that (he didn't recommend anything different) and I should bring my wheel down for him to examine. Why? Its doing exactly what those videos stated and I need to lubercate the free hub! I enjoy doing my own work, and often do a more caring job than some pipple faced 20 year old. Sometimes I screw it up, that's learning, but I have most of the tools. With all the videos out now for DIYs, its kind of a no brainer to DIY unless you don't have the time. But sometimes we need a new tool or a particular lubricant or something or some secret how to do some little thing. If you are not going to help the DIY and give some advice now and then, why do you sell bike tools at all? Many of these YouTube videos are done by professional bike mechanics, they are probably getting less out of helping people than a LBS that might get business later for being nice.
