First one, I went in and purchased some hydraulic fluid to bleed my brakes. They had what I needed the parts guy at that time was helpful.
Heather was great! She greeted me as soon as I walked in and asked how she could help me. I told her I was looking for a new bike and she said she'd be right over to help me. She started by asking what I was looking for and how did I ride a bike. I gave her my list of must haves and she got to work finding me a bike. I spent about an hour in the shop and I left with a great bike, some accessories, and a maintenance plan. I rode around the parking lot a few times to get used to it before I got on the road. The ride home was awesome! I already love my new bike.
This review encompasses three interactions with this store.
Always have a great experience here. Great service and knowledgeable staff
Two stars for the first interaction I had there, after that, all downhill.
First time looking at bicycles. I had very unique concerns about what my options are because of my weight. A sales person took time to explain different classes of bikes and the pros and cons to each class. I didn't buy a bike yesterday but when I do I will buy it here. Great service with little to no pressure to purchase immediately.
I have had excellent service and support at the albuquerque store. Everything from small parts to a new road frame has been taken care of by the staff for me. Recently Grant tracked down a lost online order that their corporate customer service couldn't seem to find. He followed up with a phone call and ensured that the charge was refunded. Great store for your bicycle needs.
Thirdly, I called down to check on a bike that I recently bought off Craigslist for a decent price, to check if the previous owner might have reported it stolen. It had the Performance Bike sticker on the bottom bracket, so I figured if anything I could give them this information, they could check in their system and contact this person, without having to give any personal information to me. Well the guy who answered the phone had to intention of helping, was pretty unsympathetic towards the original owner of the bike, and in response to the owner possibly not having registered it or reported it as stolen his reply was simply, "That's on them." I would hope my local bike shop would be kind enough to help if someone is ATTEMPTING TO RETURN a possibly stolen bike. Just solidifies my theory that Performance Bike is a big chain that sells you a bike then kicks you out the door.
Second time, I needed a headset bearing, gave them the size and specs off the spec sheet from my bike but the tech guy at that time was pretty rude and pissy that I didn't bring in the old one. I get it, I used to wrench on cars, but the attitude he had was unwarranted.
