The first operation took a bit more than an hour and proceeded without complications. I was walking on crutches the next day and unassisted by the end of the second week. At two months out my right hip feels and functions almost as good as the original God-given hip did at age twenty. The fit is tight and fluid and I have no pain at all. The incision has healed beautifully.
I normally don't write reviews in public because I have a public job, but I want to make an exception in this case because I think so highly of Dr. Carothers and of his team.
Dr. Carothers has performed one total hip replacement on me and he is doing the other hip in two days. He is a world-class surgeon.
I am a physician myself and I hope this means that I have some skill in judging the care rendered by others. What I can say is that Dr. Carothers has a nearly God-like reputation among local physicians and among those who work closely with him (pathologists, rheumatologists, physical therapists, nurses and researchers). As a patient I can personally attest to his work.
Dr. Carothers is one of the best physicians I have ever known.
I might add that Dr. Carother's entire team is superb, but especially Steven, his P.A. and "right hand man". Finally, a note about Dr. Carothers' bedside manner. He is VERY serious and focused and does not waste any time with small-talk. He is all business. And THAT, after all, is exactly what one needs from a surgeon.
I have been very pleased with Dr Carothers. He has explained my treatment options for knee pain and my results have been great so far. Eventually, I may need a knee replacement but shots have kept me going fine so far.
