I left to grab some things and came back and said if I couldn't get a refund, the least she could do was let me shower since she charged me. That's when things got intense.

A little extra $ can make all the difference. I'd been staying in a string of cheap motel and it was kind of bumming me out. The Adventure Inn was about $10 more than I'd been paying but a world apart in terms of quality.

Please mind you I had been traveling for 8 hours that day and was exhausted and she just kicked me to the curb and didn't care one bit.

If you must stay here because you have no other options, know what you're getting yourself into and be careful here.

I was upset and said that it may not be the best option for me to stay there and I wish she had mentioned that to our conversation prior as she knew I was traveling with all my belongings.

Clean room, gross dirty tub, good wifi, terrible check-in clerk, free eggs, crazy cat running around, individual rooms

Joy has a short fuse and her personality flipped in a heartbeat.

This hostel is located in downtown Albuquerque which is apparently not safe. About 5 hours prior to my arrival I called to let them know what time they could expect me. Joy answered the phone and I told her that I was traveling cross county with a small trailer so she knew I had belongings on me. When I arrived she was FRANTIC about the parking situation. So while I was trying to find parking she said that my belongings were not safe in my car and that they've had numerous break in's, even in their back parking lot. She said if I parked back there, I could look at the back window to make sure my car wouldn't get broken into - but my question to her - how would I do that while I was sleeping??

There is a cat that lives here, so be careful if you have allergies. Pros: Great location, free breakfast, great price. There are 5 parking spaces in the back. Cons: It's an old building so it's kinda grimy but not necessarily dirty. The mattresses are thin, and there is no ladder to get up and down from the top bunk which makes things difficult. Overall, it's not bad, and hard to beat the price.

BEWARE. If you are traveling cross country or are traveling with anything in your car then this is not the place to stay.

Let it also be know that this hostel has cats running around everywhere - I didn't know that before. The vibe at Route 66 is VERY weird.

Historic hostel is very small and quaint. Doesn't conform to modern ADA standards and compared to a standard hotel or motel, some guests might feel that rooms, halls, and tight stairs are cramped, but given the age of the historic building that is to be expected. Common spaces are ample and eclectic, with plenty of games and other options. Sometimes an old building can feel unclean, but cleanliness here seemed to be a top priority despite that natural vintage patina. We met a couple of pleasant fellows here; the desk clerk and a fellow traveler, which helped add to the hominess. Would recommend to anyone needing a clean, inexpensive room and friendly company, but not expecting the pristine, well-appointed standards of modern hotel accommodations. Not scary by any means, but adventurous for sure.

I asked Joy for a refund because she had just charged my credit card. She tensed up and got angry. Joy said she wouldn't do it and couldn't do it.

QUICK TIP: You can save yourself a lot of trouble, hassle and hygiene if you book at a motel nearby instead. It'll cost you about $15 more but it's most definitely worth it.

She started to yell at me and said she didn't want my business and I wasn't allowed to shower there - even though she charged me!! I asked her to stop yelling at me and she said that I wasn't welcome there and kicked me out at 10:30 pm.
