What a joke. We went from one clueless vet to another - staff here appear professional but are poorly trained and I'm not convinced the vet has a clue. We had concerns about an ear infection for our Coker and the vet recommended a solid $200 in treatment only to learn later (when we made a follow up call) that the file notes indicate that they "have no idea what is wrong with [our] dog" and that we "declined an ear swab" that we NEVER even discussed with the vet. Livid as I was to learn this, I asked for the vet to return my call and explain this .... no call yet. Needless to say we are looking for a real vet, again.
I used to use these guys when i lived in Denver CO and they were great! So naturally when i move to Albuquerque i went back to them. After my first visit however i was extremely displeased to see the vet using tools that she had placed on the floor and the stuck inside a already infected wound on my dog. Yes she took tools that she had put on the floor where all day people and dogs had been walking going to the bathroom other sick dog germs and stuck it inside my dogs wound. I was disgusted. How dare she do such a thing. All i could think was what if this was a human and the doctor did that to a person?
I always try to talk to the staff here and make sure to understand my puppy health. Most of all I listen to the staff and respect them. I went back to get my dog his microchip and ask the vet to look at these pimple like rashes on his stomach. As the nurse takes him back she comes back and my puppy comes back to me scared running behind me. The veteran that was giving him his microchip comes into the room and starts demanding me and my sibling to shut the door and hold him down; my sister was scared. My puppy look at me in fear before I could say anything the veteran place the microchip in him and step back in the corn of the room and started yelling at me and my sister about "how aggressive" my puppy is and that he is "dangerous." At the same time the nurse gave me my puppy tag and paper work and walk out while the veteran continue to yell at us. So.... before she walked out I let her know that my dog is fine with people and other dog's BUT when he comes here he is scared why is that? She could not answer that she only told me to get him in classes and was up against the door and left the room. I still can't believe that happen and she didn't even look at his stomach. Not only that the rashes have started to develop before that visit and I've ask them to look at it multiple times and they been avoiding to look at it. To me they only want my money. After this visit I'm done going back.
I purchased a wellness plan for my puppy. I made sure to get he Early Care Plus plan to include his neuter. Early in his care, the vet mentioned that one of his testicles had not dropped, but there was still time for it to drop and if it didn't, they would treat it as a spay. Ok, no big deal. No mention of that testicle since. It has been over two months. I assume everything is fine. My husband went to drop him off today and they blind sided him saying that it was going to be an additional $232 because it is now considered a castration as they have to make an additional incision into his abdomen and they have to microchip him because it's required by law. My husband calls me and puts me on the phone with the staff who says there's notes from the vet stating she had discussed this with me. While their may be notes...absolutely NOTHING was discussed!!! In addition, they had always said microchipping was an option. It was never stated as a requirement!!!! I am going to have my dog neutered elsewhere. I feel that Banfield has lied to me and will continue to do so. Do not take your pet here!!!!
Being related to Dr England I know how hard everyone works at this hospital and how much love and dedication they have for all their patients. Because of their very affordable preventative care they see a very high volume of patients everyday and stay late seven days a week to make sure everyone who needs to he seen can be. Not a single one of the three doctors is there for the money and could make more at another job. They are all there to provide affordable high quality medicine and surgery. The negative reviews about the cost of treatments and personal attacks on the doctors do not reflect the absolute dedication these doctors have for their patients. There is always another side to every story.
