Very clean facilities and very friendly staff. Lovely area, open 24/7 to residents. Office hours are limited. Night time security guard surveillance.
The kitchen was my favorite. Granite counter tops and black appliances--much more attractive than any kitchen you'll find for the same rent elsewhere in Albuquerque. (Before I signed my lease I looked around extensively and was not impressed with anything else in this price range.)
Management at UV is exceptional. They're strict when they need to be (which I liked--even when it was directed at me--because it keeps the property under control) but they're also kind and friendly. Compared to what I've seen elsewhere, the management, security and maintenance at UV deserve a few courtesy awards!
The sliding magnetic keys for the apartment doors can be a pain because it's easy to lose your key or lock yourself out. Be extra-conscious every time you walk out of your apartment to avoid doing this to yourself.
The apartments come furnished and I enjoyed the look of all the furniture. The couch is not the most comfortable so I used the desk chair more than the couch. Rent at University Village is extremely reasonable, especially given that utilities and wifi are included. Fluctuations in the strength and availability of the wifi were very frustrating when I first moved there but the management had it fixed and after that I had no more issues.
It's really weird to be in an old hotel room. no window screens, doors don't always lock correctly.
Stayed here over the summer while interning at a local business. Studio rooms are the perfect size for one person. Excellent value in my opinion and located close enough to the freeway that you can get anywhere quick. Only complaint is that the free Internet is essentially unusable in the rooms and you have to go to the main building to get a strong enough signal.
I would happily live at UV again. I've endured some crappy rentals in my time and this stands out as one of the most pleasant. I was sorry to leave.
I loved my little studio apartment at University Village. I lived there for 15 months and only left because I moved to Tucson, AZ.
Repairs were always attended to with lightning speed. Even when my fridge went kaput they had a new one wheeled in in less than an hour.
The kitchen is not for dedicated cooks: you get a microwave and a two-burner hot plate. I supplemented this with a toaster oven I bought on Craigslist for $35. I'm not much into cooking so it worked perfectly for me.
Great place for one person! I stayed here for 10 months and the maintenance man, Armando is great! Always fixes things very fast no matter what it is. My microwave stopped working and i got in replaced in less than an hour. They also upgraded their internet which was needed and they are installing gates in the entrance to the parking lot! Great management and staff :)
I found it a quiet and safe place to live. Occasionally some student parties can be heard near the pool but they don't last late into the night and I never lost any sleep because of it. I often walked at night to get some fresh air and always felt safe. Just as I was moving out they were installing gates on the parking lot for added security.
