"Oh, how lovely."
When most customers ask where an item is, they are nicely pointed to the correct location by the shop's employees. Some even get up from their chair. The owner of Stone Mountain Bead may be a nice enough guy (good taste in music) but he definitely lacks people skills. I listened in as he rudely informed a potential customer where an item was located.
"No, down." Customer looks to behind the counter.
"Further down."
Knowledgeable and friendly owner. No high pressure. Discount on a large purchase. Huge inventory. Needed some spherical turquoise beads for a client and Stone Mountain had exactly what I needed. Huge selection of African beads that made me drool...
Always seem to have what I want and some things I didn't know I wanted!
I always find something unexpected when I go in. The owner and staff are incredibly helpful with any "beading emergency" I might have.
What a find! My "usual" bead store was closed, but for when I'm in ABQ, I have a new bead store! Killer selection of glass, ceramic, and bone bead as well as a nice selection of semiprecious stone beads in all sizes. Owner is super knowledgeable and helpful... very appreciated! Just enough hippie, just enough funky and way less attitude than elsewhere in town.
"No, other way." Customer turns left, begins inspecting for desired beads. I thought the owner would have realized this long ago, but beads in fact are quite small and indistinguishable from afar. Apparently not.
Although the owner is a genuinely rude person, his employee Tiffany is quite helpful. On my first visit, she helped me make two necklaces and a pair of earrings. I left feeling like a person. And I was also excited to return for new beading adventures.
"No, no, below the glass."
After this second trip, I don't think I will ever go back even if they have a great selection of stuff.
