I am so offended I will never step foot in this place again and will advise others of this policy. I understand there are crime issues in Albuquerque but I was a paying customer and I am not wanting to be judged this way.
If this happened at the Santa Fe store they would be out of business.
They can also do a better job in cleaning the fish & meat department. The machinery looks rusty and old.
I have shopped at this store since 1995 and have always loved it until today. Several of us had a nice lunch in the dumpling house. We finished and I started browsing around to see if I wanted to purchase anything since I was at the store. An employee came and said that if I was going to shop that I must check my purse because of the size of it. I looked shocked and she asked if I had a problem with it and I said that I did. She explained that the store policy was posted and women could bring in small handbags but not large ones. This is the only one that I own. I felt insulted and offended. I am not a criminal and have shopped here for years. We even had lunch.
Its an okay International Grocery Store. Clean and tidy. But I have a few issues with this place: 1. The employees are usually nowhere to be found, and when you do find them, they are not helpful. 2. Their produce are usually untagged with names. So you usually have no idea what leafy green vegetable you're looking at. This won't be too much of a problem if you could find an employee who knows.
I go here to buy frozen fish and plantains, among other things. The staff members are polite but I don't think we have enough of them. Or it could be because I usually shop at night there.
The service was good. Nice cashiers, helpful staff. And she seen a women from Germany. And they talked, while I just stood there. As long as she was happy. We're definitely going back to get our groceries the next time we need food.
My significant other was born in Germany. Raised there until the age of 18. So, she tells me of the foods she wish to make. But finding the ingredients needed for the recipes were not found at name brand stores. Found the store online so we took a trip to Talin. For her, was walking down memory lane. Seeing stuff from her native country. Her eyes lid up with the many recipes she can now make.
A positive is that they give out packs of ice at checkout when you buy frozen items.
Great place for authentic Asian ingredients. Prices are not bad for imported foods and drinks. Live seafood and fresh ground beef. It's well organized by country. Tons of fresh veggies that are found in Asia.
