I love Cracker Barrel! The best time to come is on weekdays at lunch or dinner time, however. Saturday and Sunday mornings are always packed to the brim and you can easily wait an hour or two for a table unless you're the first at the door when they open. No reservations, always first come, first serve. Luckily, they serve their delicious, scratch made breakfast all day. Perfect for all my fellow Ron Swansons out there who love pancakes and bacon for any meal! It's a bit of a tourist haunt in any city you find them, but don't let that fool you. Their country cooking is wonderful and has good portions for the price. Even their seasonal specials are surprisingly tasty, like the French dip. (Though I found it odd that they added mayonnaise, I will ask for them to leave that off next time.)
Sometimes the service can be a bit slow, though I try to be understanding since they're waiting several tables at once. Last time we had to signal and ask for a refill on a drink after 15 minutes of it being empty. That's one of the few downsides next to its popularity for weekend breakfast. All in all though I highly recommend it. It brings me back to growing up in Florida, is always satisfying, and has really friendly service.
The food is still good, it is just a matter of who you get on the phone when ordering to-go.
Dining inside takes long as well however the food orders were accurate and the server was friendly.
I really like Cracker Barrel, however this store has issues with to-go orders. I had a coworker who just moved to town and we decided to order our lunch to go from there. I made the order 15 minutes ahead and when we arrived we were told the order was still being prepped. We waited another 20 minutes and were told that the order was never put in. We complained and our meal was comped but it cost us quite a bit of time and we weren't even dining in. A second time I ordered to-go and my food order was wrong even after the person on the phone repeated it to me. I didn't complain that time but my advice is, don't order to-go unless you plan to wait a long time or potentially have an order come out wrong.
The meatloaf was really good. There was a long list of sides, I had the steamed broccoli & the Lima beans both excellent. The staff were friendly & efficient. We stayed overnight in our trailer in the parking lot. It was a little noisy until closing time and then just the I-25 noise. We just pretend it is the ocean or wear earplugs.
County style breakfast. If your a glutton for classic then this is your place. I love the apple butter and biscuits. The wait can be a little long and the shop is cluttered. Still haven't heard about Brad's wife.
Great Country Restaurant serving big blue plates type with cornbread muffins or biscuits on the tables. Pretty sunset scene through the large windows. They sell many kinds of country music, clothing, sweets like candies. Many different styles of wooden rockers for sale along the front porch. Really cool out there.
