The bar tender was awesome and the nachos were fantastic. MY PROBLEM WAS WITH A PERSON IN THE BACK. I had gone to the restroom and decided to look around. The doors were open so I went to the back. I was just exploring when I was approached and told I was being rude to be back there. And that the owners didn't appreciate me being there. That individual made me feel extremely offended. I hope others that go there are not treated as RUDE as I was. Will NOT RETURN.
I can’t believe the cover price. It’s comparable to real clubs in big cities. The whole facility needs a remodel. Although the mid floor and roof area are nice, it’s just awkward! Trying to get around on a crowded night is impossible with standard size doors between the patio and the inside, i don’t understand the wasted space of the hallway after the stairs, the hallway to the patio, or the metal landing to get up to the patio. Totally wasted space. And what on earth is behind the french doors upstairs?The downstairs is totally grungy and unappealing, leaving the other two spaces packed. Pro tip: none of the bar tenders charge the same price for the same drink! It can be different based on which bar or which bartender you go to. I feel like the building should be redesigned to be open, utilizing more space and creating more functional areas or bigger dance spaces.
I was harassed and physically assaulted by a straight, cis-man who was trolling the dance floor tonight. I’ve heard countless women say the exact same thing. This is not an LGBTQ+ club, nor is it a safe space for LGBTQ+ people. The fact is: Effex is not a safe space for LGBTQ+ people. Spend your money somewhere else.
Had a good time until a security/bouncer started to tell me, yelling to be honest, where I can and can’t stand. At first I thought he was a patron messing with me. I’ve never been to this bar before because I’m from out of state. He had no identification on or even a shirt that would inentify him. I thought he was a street person to be honest. Then he tells me I have to tip the dancer. Well I’m no where near the dancer. Then he tells me if I look at the dancer I have to tip. If their are rules to a bar you should have them in plain site when you walk into the establishment. Long story short, he’s eyeballing me for five minutes plus, then yells “your out of here!”, slaps the glass out of my hand, drink flies out of my hand, and down my back. Out I go needless to say with the help of his ass. I don’t even know how to get out of the place and he’s yelling at me the whole time. First time and last time in that bar. Worst experience I’ve ever had in a bar. I would give it a negative star if I could.
My husband and I attended goth night last Thursday and enjoyed ourselves and the vibe. The crowd was interesting and mixed. This staff was friendly and cordial and we enjoyed the variety of music played. My husband lost his cell phone there and it was there the next day. Kudos to the staff as he called his number the next day and it was returned to him by a very nice fellow named Jason. I recommend this club to anyone who wants to dance and people watch. We will be back.
