To be fair, the food is great. However, in my experience, the quality of the food is greatly diminished by poor service (inattentive wait staff and unusual delays in food preparation) and frequent mistakes (incomplete orders delivered through GrubHub or other services).
Beautiful crisp cool dining room. Produce grown in their own garden. Amazing service. Many vegetarian dishes. Wonderful place for a special (and expensive) dinner.
I want to enjoy Yannis and provide positive feedback, but based on several past experiences (10 visits over the course of 2 years), I cannot.
I am a Greek from northern NJ and am from an area of a lot of Mediterranean restaurants. Most of the Diners are even owned by Greek families. After a week of hunting Elk and being in Elk camp, my father and I were hungry for some excellent food. We asked a local about a recommendation, so we went to Yanni's . My father and I both chose the Mediterranean linguini. OH MY! It was fantastic! We were so excited about it , we had to compliment the owner" Kim". She was totally engaged with her customers, not to mention the great customer service from the Waite staff! Congrats Kim!!! You've got a great thing going here! To many years of success in your future!
Truly Disappointed. Wife and I have been here for the past 15 years but the food served here tonight was just terrible. We both ordered the yellow fin sole. Both were way over salted while bland. It has been a signature dish since many years ago but what just happened here? The roasted potatoes on the side are way over baked. After the dinner, we asked a single shot of espresso. The espresso is watery and tasted like strong coffee instead. When the bill came around, that shot of espresso is $5. Probably the most expensive espresso I have ever had in my life while also one of the worst. I think this day and age, you should be able to pull a great shot of espresso. I mean buy a Nespresso machine if you are going to charge 5 bucks. this would be the last time we would come to Yanni’s. Truly saddened since we had great memories. Goodbye Yanni’s.
The food was delicious we had made reservations for 7:45. Our waiter was horrible he took over 15 minutes just to buying us water, he never checked back, all of our glasses were empty. He spent the whole time talking to whoever it was running the bar. Yannis was not packed he had numerous times to take care of us. Spending $38 and up for a plate I would have expected a more attentive staff. I don't think I would go back. At their other establishment Nic and Jimmy's I have never had a bad experience. I would highly recommend it.
If 1.5 stars were an option, I would opt for that.
For the price, it is simply unacceptable - there are other comparably priced Mediterranean options in Albuquerque that offer excellent service.
