THANK YOU.
The first response said that if the income was included in my AGI, it was taxable; if not included, not taxable. The second response said that some states conform to federal rules and others do not. Neither response comes close to a simple "does" or "does not" answer to my question.
The Department is staffed by people either stupid or lazy--characteristics not uncommon in the state. So seek your answers elsewhere so that you do not waste your time and effort as well as your tax dollars.
Patty Gonzalez is incompetent and rude. At her station, I paid off a lien and three weeks later the release had not been created and sent to the Bernalillo County offices. In fact, it was only after I personally took time out of my work day and went to the Recorder of Deeds at Civic Plaza in downtown Albuquerque that I discovered the release had not been sent to them. That same day I returned to this NMTRD office at San Mateo and Central and spoke with her supervisor, Debbie, who was very nice and helpful. She confirmed Ms. Gonzalez dropped the ball and that the release had just been sent out - by another employee mind you! Debbie also asked if they had the correct address because they had sent a copy to my address of record. They did not have my correct address but Ms. Gonzalez did not tell me they would send me a copy. Nor did she confirm or ask for my current address. Actually, Ms. Gonzalez didn't say two words to me through the entire process. She didn't ask if she could help me, she didn't ask if there was anything else I needed, and she didn't even tell me to have a nice day. If Ms. Gonzalez is that unhappy with her job why does she work there? This is a perfect example of how inept state employees continue to be on the payroll at the expense of every other citizen in New Mexico. To top it all off, as I was leaving I stopped at Ms.Gonzalez' station and told her public servants should serve the public and do their job. She just smirked at me. Welcome to New Mexico!
I( asked a simple question: "For tax year 2015, does New Mexico conform or not to federal Income tax rules concerning bonus depreciation?"
